OUR UNIQUE DESIGNS
Beachside Quilter is unique in offering a truly custom quilt for each customer. The process is simple: all you do is supply the shirts, we do all the rest! Our t-shirt quilts are custom designed and feature your t-shirt design in large blocks, along with a mix of traditional quilt blocks in theme-related fabrics. The backing and borders are also theme-related in our “REMEMBER WHEN” quilts. Beachside Quilter does not use the “one size-sashed” method offered by other t-shirt quilters. Our quilts are one of a kind, custom-designed using designs from your individual shirts.

OUR PROCESS
Your tee shirts are carefully prepared using the finest interfacing. This helps to preserve and stabilize your worn shirts to prevent stretching and sagging in your finished quilt. Tee shirts designs are sorted and arranged on your quilt in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. This makes each quilt unique and provides the most interesting style quilt. Be assured that no one has a tee-shirt collection quite like yours! Your custom made quilt will be a conversation piece, and cherished item for years to come.

OUR PRODUCTS
We use the finest, 100% cotton designer fabrics which are pre-washed and dried prior to the piecing of your quilt. Our batting is also preshrunk, to provide stability and minimize shrinkage in your finished quilt. Realizing that your shirts have been washed and dried many times and are pre-shrunk, it is important that all new components of your quilt be pre-washed as well!

OUR QUILTING & FINISHING
Your custom quilt is machine quilted on a hand-guided, APQS stitch-regulated longarm quilting machine using a color coordinated thread in a meander pattern. This quilting provides stability to your shirts and ensures durability of your quilt for many years.

Finally, your quilt is finished with a double fold binding of 100% cotton fabric coordinated to the fabrics in your quilt. Binding is applied by machine and hand finished.

WHAT YOU SUPPLY
The process is simple: all you do is supply the shirts and the memories! We do all the rest! Sort through your shirts, carefully launder them (do not use fabric softener) and send them along with completed order form and deposit. Special instructions regarding the placement of a “favorite” shirt should be noted on your order form, or call to discuss.

NUMBER OF SHIRTS NEEDED
Large Lap Size 56’ x 72” suggest at least 5 up to 10 shirts

Twin Size 68” x 84’ suggest 10-15 shirts

Full Size 76” X 84” suggest 15-20 shirts

Queen Size 84” x 96” suggest 20-25 shirts

King Size 100” x 100” suggest 30-35 shirts

Design sizes on shirts are highly variable; many shirts have large graphics on one side only, some have designs on both front and back, others contain designs on pockets, or sleeves. We use as many elements of the shirts as possible. Some customers only want the large style graphics used; the choice is yours! You are welcome to send additional shirts; unused shirts will be returned. Fragments of shirts will not be returned. Additional fabrics will be added to your shirts to complete the quilt size desired.

We also specialize in graduation quilts for high school and college seniors. A great conversation piece, it will allow roommates to get a glimpse of even a shy freshman! What better way to provide a piece of home comfort to a young adult leaving home for the first time? Wrap your graduate in a comfy quilt that commemorates their high school days as they transition to college. Our large lap-size is perfect for dorm beds.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR QUILT
Enhance your custom quilt with the addition of photos and memorabilia such as awards, keepsakes, ribbons, uniforms, etc. Photos are scanned on fabric and incorporated into quilt blocks. Additional charges for these services will apply.

SENDING YOUR PICTURES
Your pictures can be sent in digital format by e-mail, or saved on CD-ROM and mailed along with your shirts. We will then transfer the photos to fabric and incorporate them into your quilt.

You may also send original photographs which will be scanned and transferred to fabric. Your original photos will be returned to you along with your quilt. Photos should be no larger than 8 x 10 inches.

Certificates, awards and other memorabilia can also be scanned and copied onto fabric similar to the photo process. These original documents will be returned along with your finished quilt.

Items such as fabric badges or insignia can be incorporated into your quilt by appliqué for an additional charge.

CARE FOR YOUR QUILT
Treat your quilt with TLC by gently machine washing with a small amount of detergent using a delicate cycle low spin; then tumble dry at very low heat until slightly damp. Hang to finish drying. These quilts are made to be used and loved for many years to come.
